It is not at all shocking that a fellowship church would ask themselves the question of whether or not they should open up an online site for themselves. After all, almost every single organization in the world does it.

A lot of churches don’t even know where to begin when it comes to having a website. Most do not even know what a website would demand of someone.

This is what I plan on putting an emphasis on. I will try and point out just SOME of the things that you should expect by opening a site for your church, and what you would have to do to make it work to your advantage.

When someone owns a website, it can bring a life-time of opportunities to you. It puts the world at your fingertips, literally. But only if you do it in the right way. Not only that, but it makes it easy for anyone and everyone to reach you. This would definitely be ideal for a church.

For a church, having a website can be very beneficial. For example, you can have your weekly updates posted online for all of your congregation members to view.

You can make any changes to your weekly schedule; you can make announcements, all without having to make a single phone call.

Having an online site also provides you the great opportunity to show the whole wide world what you’re all about. And the most important thing, it also allows you to reach out.

I only say this to you because you can place everything that your church stands for, what your doctrine is onto your website. That way anyone who see’s your site will know exactly what it is that you believe in. And it allows you to reach out to everyone who visits your page.

However, just as there happen to be many pros when it comes to owning an online page for your church, there also happen to be a few cons to consider.

For one, if you do decided to get an online page, you must make sure that you are constantly updating it because it could cause confusion to your congregation.

If your planning to use the website only for current members, then you don’t really need to worry about the SEO part of it because you simply have to tell your members what the site address is. However if you would like to reach others in the world, then you must worry about making your site search engine friendly so that you can rank higher in the search engines.

A website who is not designed correctly, a best will just look horrible. At worst you may ask? Well, it can make people never want to step foot in your congregation. Period.

A website may or may not be exactly what you thought it was going to be. But now that you know the pros and cons you really need to consider what your options are.

Ask yourself if your fellowship church is ready to use a website and if it will be the best thing for your church.
